OCU delivered a water mains renewal scheme at Street Lane, Roundhay, on behalf of Yorkshire Water following ongoing water quality issues and a significant history of burst mains.


The works involved renewing 4.5km of water mains ranging from 90mm to 250mm diameter, together with associated service connections and tie-ins. Delivered through residential carriageways and footpaths, the project required careful planning and stakeholder coordination to minimise disruption while improving the reliability of the local clean water network.

  • Worked closely with Yorkshire Water operational teams to plan complex network shut offs and customer notifications

  • Liaised with local schools and the council to minimise disruption throughout delivery

  • Utilised HSG47 safe digging techniques and vacuum excavation to safely expose existing underground services
